Sharonda "Westeigh" Grant

About the instructor: Westeigh is a self-taught black and white photographer known for her abstract, expressive style and emotion-filled landscapes.

 

Her work explores deep emotional and existential themes, often using techniques like double exposure and motion blur to create intricate and thought-provoking images.

 

Despite not attending art school, Westeigh has developed a unique and impactful artistic voice through dedication and continuous self-exploration.                            Sun., October 20 ~ 10:00 am – Noon;
                           Sat., October 26 ~ 10:00 am - Noon
            
Description:  In this workshop, students of all levels will learn how to make dramatic black and white photographs, whether with an iPhone or a digital or film camera. This two-day hands-on workshop will feature a review of black and white photography, black and white photographic styles, and techniques used to create compelling black and white photographs.

 

This workshop includes a one-day classroom session, a half-day photographic field trip to Alameda’s old Navy base and a critique of everyone’s work the following Sat.  Download the Workshop outline here!

Jeff Heyman

About the instructor: A San Francisco native, Jeff was influenced by the various artistic and photographic trends sweeping the Bay Area. While in high school, Jeff studied photography under Ralph Rappaport, an associate of Ansel Adams, and undertook photographic trips to Yosemite, Carmel and Point Lobos. Rappaport taught Jeff the Zone System and advanced film development and darkroom printing techniques.

 

He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art Photography from San Francisco State University and studied under photographers Don Worth, Jack Welpott, Catherine Wagner and Melanie Walker.

An award-winning fine art photographer and photojournalist, Jeff's work has been widely published and exhibited, including at Frank Bette Center for the Arts in Alameda and the de Young Museum in San Francisco For more info, visit LumenFoundry
